#Letter365: the project

The basic idea for #Letter365 is that, wherever I am, I have been creating a small, unique, original artwork every day for a year. I have sealed each piece in an envelope and dispatched it for delivery (or delivered it myself) before midnight on that same day to Bridport Arts Centre, where they are being stored, unopened, until the Installation, which runs from 7 March to 11 April 2015

#Letter365 gets made and posted wherever I might be

People are invited to purchase these works unseen, in advance and during the show, at affordable prices. Only those works that have been purchased will be opened and the contents displayed as part of the installation.

I am recording the process on this blog and photographically. The blog, with its repetitive postings of basically the same image and information each day, mirrors and has become part of the work itself.

The #Letter365 project had to start quickly to fit into the Art Centre schedule so I had no time for the planning and groundwork that I had hoped to do in advance. This has meant that everyone can witness the evolution of the basic concept and the design decisions as it proceeds.

I wanted the process to be inclusive so that purchasers as well as other artists and performers could become participants in the process as it evolved. Sadly the many expressions of interest initially have not led many artists to actually come up with the goods so far. As we move to the closing stages perhaps more will get engaged.

I hope you enjoy it.
